Aegean Dark is developed and operated by kpapadopoulos Design & Engineering (“we”, “us”, or “our”).
Aegean Dark is an onboard yacht experience and control application designed to connect guests and crew with yacht services, information, entertainment, and compatible onboard systems.
This Privacy Policy explains how information may be accessed, processed, stored, and shared when using Aegean Dark.
- Information Aegean Dark May Process
The information processed by Aegean Dark depends on the yacht configuration and the features used.
Profile and identification information
Where user profiles are enabled, the app may process information such as a user’s name, role, cabin, preferences, or other profile information required to provide personalized onboard services.
Guest requests and service information
When using concierge or steward services, the app may process requests submitted by the user, including food and beverage orders, service requests, selected menu items, preferences, and information necessary for crew members to fulfil those requests.
Yacht and itinerary information
The app may display and process information relating to the yacht, voyage, destinations, itineraries, onboard services, menus, and activities.
Device and onboard-control information
Aegean Dark may communicate with compatible systems and devices on the yacht’s local network. This may include lighting, shades, climate systems, televisions, audio systems, media players, marine systems, and other supported equipment.
Information such as device availability, configuration, status, selected rooms, control commands, and feedback may therefore be processed by the app.
Local network and device discovery
Aegean Dark may use the device’s local network, Bluetooth, Bonjour/mDNS, or other supported discovery technologies to locate and communicate with compatible onboard equipment.
Local network access is requested through Apple’s system permission mechanisms where required.
Location information
Certain features may use location information when required to provide location-related functionality, such as voyage, destination, weather, proximity, or location-aware onboard experiences.
Location access is requested through Apple’s permission system where applicable. Users may change location permissions at any time through their device settings.
Notifications
Aegean Dark may use push or local notifications for features such as guest requests, service updates, crew communications, alerts, or other relevant onboard information.
Notification permissions can be changed at any time through the device’s settings.
Diagnostic information
Technical information such as errors, application performance information, device or operating-system information may be processed where necessary to maintain reliability, diagnose problems, improve compatibility, and provide technical support.
- How We Use Information
Information processed through Aegean Dark may be used to:
provide requested onboard services and functionality;
personalize the onboard experience;
communicate guest requests to authorized crew members;
manage food, beverage, concierge, and service requests;
communicate with compatible yacht equipment;
provide yacht, destination, itinerary, weather, and voyage information;
deliver relevant notifications;
maintain security and reliability;
troubleshoot technical problems; and
improve the operation and user experience of Aegean Dark.
We do not sell personal information.
We do not use personal information for third-party behavioral advertising.
- Local Yacht Network
A significant portion of Aegean Dark functionality may operate directly between the user’s device and systems installed aboard the yacht.
Information exchanged locally with onboard systems may remain within the yacht’s network and may not be transmitted to kpapadopoulos Design & Engineering.
Apple requires applications accessing devices on a local network to obtain the appropriate Local Network permission on supported platforms.
The exact systems accessible through Aegean Dark depend on the configuration of each yacht.
- Third-Party Services
Certain Aegean Dark features may interact with third-party services or systems, including entertainment, music, weather, mapping, navigation, smart-device, communication, or other services selected for a particular yacht.
When a user chooses to interact with a third-party service, information necessary to provide that functionality may be exchanged with that provider.
Third-party services are also subject to their respective privacy policies and terms.
Where third-party providers process user data on our behalf, we require appropriate protection of that information consistent with applicable requirements.
- Apple Services
Aegean Dark may use services and frameworks provided by Apple, including technologies relating to notifications, location, Bluetooth, local networking, Apple Watch, system permissions, and other operating-system functionality.
Apple’s handling of information through its own services is governed by Apple’s applicable privacy policies and terms.
- Data Sharing
Personal information may be made available only where necessary to:
authorized yacht crew or operators responsible for providing requested services;
systems installed aboard the applicable yacht;
service providers required to operate specific application functionality;
comply with applicable legal obligations; or
protect the security, integrity, or operation of Aegean Dark and its users.
We do not sell user information to advertisers or data brokers.
- Data Retention
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the relevant functionality, fulfil operational requirements, resolve technical issues, comply with legal obligations, or support legitimate business requirements.
Retention periods may vary depending on the particular yacht configuration and the nature of the information.
Information stored exclusively on a yacht’s local systems may be subject to retention policies established by the yacht’s owner, operator, or management.
- Data Deletion and Privacy Requests
Users may request information regarding personal data associated with them or request correction or deletion of personal information under our control, subject to applicable legal and operational requirements.

Users can also revoke permissions such as Location, Bluetooth, Local Network, and Notifications through the privacy and application settings provided by iOS or iPadOS.
- Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information handled through Aegean Dark.
Because Aegean Dark may communicate with equipment and services operated by yacht owners, operators, management companies, manufacturers, and third-party providers, security of those external systems is also dependent on their respective configurations and practices.
- Children’s Privacy
Aegean Dark is not specifically designed or directed toward children.
We do not knowingly use the application to collect personal information from children for advertising or profiling purposes.
- International Use
Aegean Dark is designed for use aboard yachts that may operate internationally. As a result, information associated with certain services may be processed in countries other than the country in which the user normally resides.
Where applicable, appropriate safeguards are used in accordance with relevant data-protection requirements.
- Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Aegean Dark evolves, new functionality is introduced, or legal and operational requirements change.
